Bio - Catalysts (Research Based Learning on Environment)
ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS: Bio - Catalysts aims to nurture our nature for the better future
Sabado, Marso 24, 2012
Introduction
Trash on
our beaches and in our waterways isn’t just unsightly – it’s also potentially
dangerous to marine life and in some cases harmful to water quality. Trash doesn’t fall from the sky, it falls
from human hands. And human hands have the power to stop it.
As
the Philippine Constitution, enacted the Republic Act 911 or the Garbage
Disposal Policy together with the reinforced power of some agencies such as
DENR - CENRO, BFAR, DA, and DOH, such rules and regulations were then imposed
for a strong and effective policy. Prior to this, various situations are then
bombarded in our environment due to the immoral and unethical activities of the
people, such as improper garbage disposal. On the other hand, we, the Bio –
Catalysts are just concerned of what our environment is experiencing, thus, we
were then able to conduct a small yet a very successful coastal clean-up last
17th day of March, 2012 at Barangay Bula, General Santos City.
This

Overview of the Topic
Coastal Clean-up is an act that is a
big help for our environment nowadays. Many associations and groups are
conducting this said activity all over the world. The biggest coastal clean-up
that happens every year is the International Coastal Clean-up Day.
The said activity are done by us
because we observed that our sea shores are really dirty especially on those
places that can be consider as a squatters area. This blog is made to show that we, first year Bachelor
of Secondary Education major in Biology can help to preserve and protect our
nature and to make a history. We are aiming for a better world where anyone can
live safely and everyone can enjoy the sea.
This Coastal
Clean-up Project serves not just simply a project but also a practiced for us,
students, to be aware of the environment's condition and to set up an action in
order to alleviate some environmental problems.
Objective
This
coastal clean-up isn't just about cleaning the sea shore, it is also pollution
prevention. People must be made aware that there will be no trashes to pick if
people in the first place will not throw wastes especially the
non-biodegradable ones anywhere much less on the sea shore where the waves will
wash the wastes to the sea. This coastal clean-up will is not only made
to clean the sea shore but it is also made to show that we should volunteer in
helping our environment. More so, it will show that volunteer-ism activity when
properly managed could play a vital role in addressing environmental issues,
pollution prevention and human development in general.
Significance of the Activity
The significance of this project is to save our nature especially the sea, because it is one of the sources in getting food and livelihood.
